Children in Permaculture‎Children in Permaculture Train the Teacher Training in Slovenia - with Carolyn Nuttal and Janet Millington

We are excited to announce that authors of the book 'Outdoor Classrooms: A Handbook for School Gardens', Janet Millington and Carolyn Nuttall will be coming to Europe to lead a CiP course to train permaculture educators to introduce permaculture into schools and promote it as a community solution. The training will start on Friday 27th May 2016 in the evening in Ljutomer. From Saturday till Tuesday Janet and Carolyn will lead workshops (content listed below). Wednesday is peer-led learning, hands-on practice with children in a local school with an outdoor classroom and a closing party. Peer-led learning will include presentations on the Reggio Emilia Approach and Neohumanist Education. Thursday 2nd of June we will tour around Slovenia to visit relevant sites and projects. The course will finish at 17:00 in Ljubljana. The course content will include: - The concept of the outdoor classroom - Passing permaculture knowledge and skills to children - How and why to lead sessions with school teachers. - The Beneficial Impacts of Outdoor Classrooms on Children’s Learning - Real Examples of School Gardens in Schools Designing, Creating and Maintaining a School Garden - Managing behaviour in the outdoors - Linking Designed Outdoor Learning Spaces with the Curriculum - Developing a Whole School Approach to Using Outdoor Learning Experiences - Practical workshops - How to use this approach in participants' own training of teachers. Aimed at participants who are familiar with permaculture, have a permaculture design course, and experience working with groups of children.
